You can give the app permission first to use the microphone so that the tuner works. Here is an instruction on how to allow access: https://musopia.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/4413846902034
Then find the tuner in the Tune tab.
The tuner has three tuning approaches: Beginner, Automatic and Sound.
- Beginner (You can select the string that you want to tune. The app will tell you whether it's too high, too low, or on tune per string.)
- Chromatic (The tuner tries to detect the string you are playing without you selecting the string.)
- Sound (You can tune your ukulele by listening to the reference sound yourself without tuner detecting.)
If you have different types of ukulele or want alternative tuning, just tap tuning settings in the upper right corner of the screen to change your ukulele type or tuning mode, then go back to the tuner.
